I LOVE these guys! This is my brother and his wife (and their darling little ones) and we did a quick photo shoot last Sunday (we didn't have much light left) but it was fun anyways, Here's just a picture that I have had time to play with, I'll get the rest done sometime soon :) LOVE YA!

This tiny little beauty was so sweet. I tried my best to comfort her during our photo session, but there's nothing like a mommy to calm the tears, I was able to watch as her mommy took her and she just stopped and stared at mom, it was so sweet. What a fun family and a beautiful baby!

I want to thank everyone for their entries to my Christmas Wish this year. The stories were great and there are some great families out there to help this time of year. This Christmas Themed Portrait Party was soooo much fun and what a great spot! The lighting was perfect, the families were great, who could ask for more (oh and the music was fab!) Families were able to come have hot cocoa, donuts and a stress free photo session! It doesn't get better than that! Here's a sneak peek for the families to tide them over until I get the rest edited. Happy Holidays.

This barn was up in Clarkston (north west of Logan) at the home of the hostess' sister. Super cool. The road there had fabulous spots too, so . . . if you are in the Logan area, just as you come out of the canyon, take your first left and enjoy! I am sure you will want to ask permission as most of the cool spots I saw along there were on people's property. Have fun!

Okay so first things first, a little business before the pleasure. I wanted everyone who has upcoming sessions to know that due to day light savings time we now need to start shooting at 4 pm instead of 5 pm (as we can't shoot in the dark), so make sure you adjust accordingly.

I am the luckiest person! I get to meet such great people while doing my job and this family is some of them. They were so sweet with each other and the kids were great, here's a sneak peek from our shoot last night.

Sorry I forgot to post the location: so here it is. The fun truck is in Eden, it's just south of the eden park and then across the street is the old "antique shop" with the fun doors.

As for location these are at Fort Buenaventura in Ogden on A Street. I would bet you could shoot here anytime of day, the trees are huge and create perfect lighting, we shot at 10:30-ish. (p.s. they do charge $1 per person for walk-ins)

Photography Business Minute . . .

I wanted to throw a few things out there for up and coming photographers. I sat in on a workshop last night from MCP regarding curves in photoshop. Jodi teaches a lot of different things and is very helpful, her classes are also very affordable, 1 to 2 hours and you do it right from home on your computer, so check her out!
Also, I went to Carin Davis' create workshop months ago to learn how to use my camera better, I STRONGLY recommend this class to anyone trying to learn how to shoot in "manual".
Lastly one of my favorite things right now is my HUEY monitor calibrator, it's a tool that helps the images on your screen look just like they will when they print out! I love it and have been so pleased to see my prints look EXACTLY like they do on my screen, a real important part of your business. So check it out and shoot on!

Our Young Women and Young Men's group had the fabulous opportunity of seeing and hearing from the Temple Riders Association last night, they roared in on their bikes and thrilled the youth (and adults, I do have to say) with their beautiful bikes and great spiritual insights. Oh and now that we are teaching we are sharing! Yay! So . . . this spot is the same as the other "grass field" spot on my earlier two sittings. It's located in Liberty at North Fork Park in a camp spot called Cutler Flats. Lots of fun and full of fall colors this time of year too.

Giving Back . . .

This time of year can be hard for families and I want to find a way to give back. I am taking the month of December off for my own family time, but I want to offer a FREE family sitting, copyright cd and 11x14 mounted print to a family in need. Please notify me via email of a family you may know who you feel would benefit from this experience. The sitting will take place in the first two weeks in December and the family must live in Weber or Davis Counties. I will be "accepting" family names and stories until November 15th and a decision will be announced November 20th. Please make sure that a sitting is something this family would be willing to do. Thanks for the fun workshop today! I would really like to keep in contact with everyone and find out how they are doing on their new found abilities. I am so THRILLED to announce that the location for our September 20th workshop has been set! It will be located in the basement "ball-room" of the Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden. So the holiday season is quickly approaching and I have changed my cards this year. All of the cards will be printed on both sides of a heavy paper with a pearl finish (beautiful!) They will include envelopes and the cost will be as follows: 4 x 5.5 size - 25 count - $50.00 5x5 size - 25 count - $65 Check out the layouts I have so far by clicking here. Or clicking on Holiday Cards to the right. I will be adding folded cards (including the fabulous 5x5 trifold) so keep checking back for the newest additions. Well these last few postings haven't been too much fun . . . sorry! I had a set-back last night when my computer had a "melt-down" (don't be too alarmed I have all my pictures saved on an external hard drive) but I had to rush out today and buy a new computer (this one is much Bigger and much Better! Hello iMAC) Anyways, it has put me back a couple of days in editing as I will need to learn the new Mac process and wasn't able to work last night or this morning to put my "rush" orders thru. So please be patient with me as I get these things worked out . . . Guestimate about 2 weeks from your session date to have them online to view. THANKS!

Booking up quickly for the Fall . . .

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE BUSINESS! I have been delightfully busy lately and am booking up super fast! I am now booked thru the end of September and know that October and November are busy times for pictures (due to the glorious scenery of the fall leaves) so I am encouraging you to book early as I won't be "over-booking" this year. I will only be taking 2 sessions per week and my pricing will be rising effective September 15th, 2008. Sessions booked prior to this date (even those for the fall or next year) will remain at the existing prices as long as the session is scheduled prior to the 15th. Sessions booked after this date will be under the new pricing. The new pricing will affect: session fees, portrait party pricing and print pricing.

I wanted to apologize if anyone had a hard time getting ahold of me this past weekend. My grandfather passed away on Friday, so I packed up my kids and we went out of town for the weekend and didn't get home until last night. This event has caused me to be a little behind on my editing also, so please be patient with me as I am only a couple of days behind, but will try and work overtime to get your images to you. Thanks!

Also, the image on this post has been created for a family whose darling little angel was called back to heaven. I wanted to let those families out there who may be mourning the loss of a child that I would be MORE THAN HAPPY to provide these images for them, all I need is an email with the child's footprints and information (or we can use the ones I have and create specialized images for them). Contact me for further information. This service will be provided free of charge to help these precious families cherish the memories of these little gifts. So we have our first workshop set up. This workshop is designed to help YOU take better pictures. Maybe you don't want to be a professional photographer but you want to take better pictures of your family and friends. Well this workshop is for you! The cost is only $30 and you will have TWO professional photographers helping you learn the tricks of taking good photos. Anniemations Photography and Marissa Vargason Photography have teamed up. The first workshop is set for September 20th from 9 am to 1 pm. Lunch will be served. We haven't decided on a location yet, it will depend on how many attendees we will have. I have been invited to photograph "The GREYT Event" on August 8th. This is the first annual benefit dinner and silent auction put on by the Greyhound Rescue and Adoption. Our family was blessed to welcome some new members (via my husband's cousin) into the world on May 19th 2008. The gift of twins came and the little boy and girl entered the world at 29 weeks. Their darling little girl was called back to Heaven that same day. We love you and know that we shall see her again!

So you'd think we went to zoo or maybe an African Safari? Well . . . . NO . . . we were driving down the road in N.O. and my daughter (who loves horses) was looking at the horses when she yells, hey there's a zebra! I thought she was looney, but . . . there it was grazing in the field with the other horses . . . A zebra! So lucky me, I had just done a photo session so I had my camera with me so I pulled over and took some pics! Crazy! Who'd of thunk it eh!?!?!?

Due to the birth of my third little princess I am going to be limiting my weddings this year. I am booked until September. So I decided to go on an outing today with my 3 year old. I have seen a few pics with these darling girls playing, with tutu's and baby legs and I thought, hey I have both of those and she wears them ALL the TIME! Why don't I take her to see if we can get some pics for her wall! So here they are! She's not much for smiling at the camera, but she sure loves to dress up! What a ham.

So . . . I just signed up for my first photography workshop August 23rd! I am so excited! It will be great to meet with other photographers and learn new tricks. This workshop is being provided by the talented Carin Davis, and I'm sure I'll learn things that will help me grow as a photographer. My first and hopefully not my last. We will be doing some model shots I'll be sharing . . . so I'll keep you "posted".

I took some pictures for a local that is putting together a website for the "running of the moose" 5k, 10k, and kids run here in the valley. They are of my home town and sad to say, this is the first time I have just taken pictures of the beautiful place I call home. It really makes me appreciate my view!
